Technical Consultant

As a Technical Consultant you will be involved in analyzing client technology solutions, project leader for engineering manpower, project installations, technical presentations and client support services.

The Technical Consultant is a junior to intermediate-level position. The following are core responsibilities for this position:

  • Performing on- and off-site IT and security assessments for eDrivium’s clients
  • Learning many industry leading IT & security products
  • Planning and implementing security solutions in the environments of eDrivium`s clients
  • Network and technical documentation for eDrivium`s clients
  • Basic networking
  • Assisting with internal technical needs
  • Assisting in the evolution of security assessment methodologies
  • Working with the Major Account Executives in pre-sales activities:
  • Client account visits to determine needs
  • Assisting and conducting post-assessment activities:
  • Writing assessment reports
  • Briefing clients on report results

Skills/Background/Duties

  • For a junior consultant, training will be provided – no industry related experience is required.
  • For an intermediate-level consultant, a minimum of 1-3 years experience in IT and security is required.
  • All candidates should be “Internet literate”, with a familiarity with some of the following:
  • Assessment Standards and Methodology (BS7799, SoX, ISO, etx.)
  • Unix Install and Administration (Linux, BSD, AIX, Solaris, etc.)
  • Firewall technologies (Stateful, Packet Filtering)
  • Internet technologies (TCP/IP, ICMP, DNS, SSL, SHTML, XML, IPSEC, SMTP, POP, SNMP, etc.)
  • Internet routing (BGP, subnetting, NAT, CISCO IOS, etc.)
  • Wireless technologies (802.11, WEP, WAP, WPA, LEAP, EAP, Bluetooth, GSM)
  • Open source technologies (Sendmail, Apache, Bind, Snort, Squid, etc.)
  • IDS and IPS; (Sourcefire RNA (Real-time Network Awareness)
  • Web vulnerabilities (SQL injection, cross-site scripting, etc.)
  • Content filtering (URL and anti-spam)
  • Windows NT/2K/2K03 Administration, and,
  • Additionally, some experience with IT Security industry products is an asset, such as:­
  • Firewalls/VPNs
  • Strong Authentication (AAA)
  • E-mail encryption
  • Patch management
  • IDS/IPS systems
  • Managed Security Services
  • Good communication skills is a requirement
  • A car is required
  • Optional, but clearly advantageous, are:
  • Any industry security certifications (CISSP, CISA, CISM, etc.)
  • Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNE, CCNP, CCSP, etc. or equiv. experience)
  • Certifications on any other network or security product

Required certifications are:

MCSE 2003 or 2007 Track, CCNA
